Mladi potporučnik, pilot u nadzvučnom avionu, leti kroz olujnu noć. Avion je iznenada oštećen i on svim silama pokušava da ga zadrži u letu. Komandir, koji na radarskom ekranu posmatra agoniju oštećenog aviona, naređuje mu da iskoči padobranom.
